New Tesoro Cibola owner - Advice please!!

New member
Hello,
I am a new owner of a Tesoro Cibola. I have always had Whites detectors, and most recently a Whites IDX Pro metal detector. I have been detecting now for about 7 years. My brother owns a Tesoro Silver Sabre U Max, and when we go out detecting, side by side, he generally finds 4 to 5 times the amount of what I do. And, he always comes away with jewerly. So, I finally decided to make the move and trade my Whites for a Tesoro Cibola. I have heard so many great things about the Cibola, and that is why I chose it. I realize that it is not an ID machine like my old IDX Pro, but I was most impressed with hearing how deep it can go, and how well it does in finding coins and jewlery. I would appreciate any comments anyone may have about this unit? Perhaps if you are a former or current owner of a Tesoro Cibola? I hope I made a good decision!
Standing by,
Kevin

Hey Kevin welcome to the Cibola! I am sure you will do well with it. I just bought its brother the Vaquero. I really like it. I got it for the same reason you got the Cibola. I run a Minelab X-Terra 70 also. Now I was finding stuff with it and continue to do so. The thing I wanted was older coins, and the possiblity of gold jewelery. I have succeded in both. I have had the V just over a month and have found 3 nice old silver coins with it. I also found my 1st gold with it. A very nice 21K ring.

I think you really made a good choice. Good luck with your new unit, and happy hunting, Beale.

Thank you so very much for your reply!!! Wow, you found a gold ring! Congratulations on your find! Something I have never done...I have found many silver rings...but never gold. And, very few old coins. Also, how do you like the stock 9 x 8" spider coil? Is it hard to pinpoint with it? I notice Tesoro sells an 8" concentric coil for the Vaquero and Cibola. Do you have the stock coil or a concentric 8"? Again, thank you for your friendly reply!
All the best from Wisconsin,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I had a Cibola and loved it.

I found lots of gold jewlery with mine.

Most of it came from tot lots with my disc turned all the way down.

All I can tell you is go for it and dig a lot until you get the hang of it.

You probably already know that. Real good headphones are needed.

Tesoro metal detectors have always had their way with me.

Just Enjoy.:beers:

HH,

I have the stock 9 x 8 coil on the Vaquero and Cortes. Coil is real easy to pinpoint with, actually precision pinpointing in Disc. or All metal mode. Tesoros love gold and aluminum too.

Congrats!!!!!! You'll do well with the Cibola. I have found tons of stuff including jewelry. It is super light, super accurate and easy to swing. Good luck!!!!

Greg

Hey Kevin the only coil I have right now is the stock. I really want to get the 5.75 HOT for trasy areas, Beale.

i used to own a cibola , 1st let me say the 8x9 coil is the best coil i ever have used it goes deep and it pinpoints to a sq inch i miss that coil 2nd it has a great turn down on the sensitivity for when you just want to clean up the 1st 3" or so in good ground it does good but in mineralised ground you would be lucky to get 2.5" deep im talking black sand o. k i did not like the fackt that it did not have an all metal seach mode thats why i got rid of mine

Hello!
I just wanted to thank everyone who posted answers and feedback to help me with my new Tesoro Cibola! I sooo very much appreciate all of your comments and advice! I will follow up hopefully soon with postings on exciting finds.
Kind regards from Wisconsin,
Kevin

PS
I am hardly able to wait! I should have my Cibola here either tomorrow or Wednesday. I will definitely be hitting the parks and beaches in a day or two!

Best of luck to ya.

The Cibola is a sweet smooth running machine.

It's a hard worker too.

HH,

well kevin, i'll put it to you like this...if it's under the coil, my cibola will find it. no doubt about it. i have recovered large cents about a foot deep, and small cents 10"+ deep. i found a piece of birdshot yesterday 8" deep. impressive. listen carefully to what it tells you, and you will be rewarded. hh,
