New Tek G2?

Wonder if this detector is the Teknetics version of the fisher gold bug and wonder if is a pure gold detector being 19kHz?

stock coil and display mount.

Brad,

For general hunting I think the ergonomics of the Omega and 11" DD can't be beat. It's good to see FT use that setup with the G2. On the other hand, if I was out nugget hunting in rough terrain I would go for the Gold Bug simply due to the fact that it would be less likely to tip over when set down in the rough terrain/rocky conditions encountered in nugget county, that and It says "Gold Bug" on the detector!

Tom, when you talk about better physical stability when sitting on the ground, are you talking center of gravity due to the difference of the large DD vs the small DD or the difference of the display grip vs rod mount (or both)? As for the price differences.....if the only difference is the stock coil choices and the grip mount vs rod mount, I suspect quite a few folks will struggle with the $200 difference. I don't know for sure but I gotta suspect the final price during the introduction will be closer than that unless the G2 isn't gonna be introduced until the GB intro offer price goes back up to the ongoing price. I guess another possibility is that the $699 price I see being mentioned is really for the Pro pak.

A few weeks after introduction, the Gold Bug's price will increase $150.. At least that's what the price sheet says I just received. I say a few weeks, but it could be a month or so.

There was some mention of both units using optional Coil-Tec coils. Time will tell.

Grip vs S-rod As you get older you learn to appreciate a lower C of G.

As to pricing it's all in ones own perception.of the units ability and target market, fourm hounds excepted.

Gold Bug... weekend prospectors

G2 Serious relic mashine.

Which do you think has the biggest market/audience?

Tom

If you wanna turn that Omega into an S-rod config, let me know by PM....I think we could do each other a favor. Oh, and as for that appreciation of lower CG's related to age.....we're the same age and the way I see it is it's coming whether we appreciate it or not.

For hunting rough country the S-rod setup makes it easier to protect the countrol box when setting it down, JMO

Check you PM's

One of the points I picked up from the dealer information was that the G2 was dsigned primarly for Export, but would also be available in the US for those that wanted it. Makes sense.
