I have used both Explorer and Excalibur on the beaches of Mid-Atlantic states. Just got yesterday a new sovereign Elite. What are the settings for beach use?

I use disc, no notch, no disc, sens about 11 o'clock, threshold just audible. I have a GT and have never used an Elite, those settings work well here in Texas.

Perfect combo in my book!

Use the same settings for the Elite as you do for the Excal. Only thing that's different is the band selector. All it does is eliminate interference from other detectors or EMI sources. If you're with an Excal user it will allow you to hunt closely without any interference...just select band 2, if I remember correctly. And if you're with another Elite or GT users, select whatever one they AREN'T on. Some say you get more depth in band 2 also.

Other than that, it's the same machine basically. Oh, and the notch control...you can use that to knock out one thing, instead of a "range" as with the disc control. Like a pulltab...sweep over it while turning the notch until it stops signaling. Now you've eliminated JUST THAT. Of course nobody runs any discrimination on the beach. Not if they want to dig gold anyway.

Thank you for the information. I will use this information today on the beach. Thank you again.
