New Sovereign GT, Need setup help for Beaches

Tom Slick

Well-known member
I just got a Sovereign GT to use on salt water beaches on the wet sand. About 7 years ago I used to use a Sovereign Elite on Flordia beaches but I don't remember how I used to run it. Living in Arizona, I only get to the California beaches a couple times a year and didn't want to spend all my time trying to figure out the best settings. I'm hoping someone can give me a starting place on settings.
Thanks
Tom

Might be a good place to start

Put the sinsitivity control ALL THE WAY LEFT IN AUTO.
Keep both disc and notch disc all the way to left aceepting everything.
thresh-hold only until hear a slight hum.

then detect.

Of course you can fine tune these controls with alternate settings and get better tweaked performance.
But if you want sinple no frill get going controls
use the above settings.

Thanks for the help. I do have a copy of the owners manual but it only addresses the different functions of each contorl knob and not real world setups. Thanks again Jason. I'll start out with your settings.

Disc Knob - turn to 0
Notch Knob - turn to 0

Volume - all the way up - volume = depth.

Sensitivity Knob- around 12 (straight up) to start with, on most beaches it will be more than happy with that and more, you can turn back towards (but NOT into) auto to see if it is comfortable later. Searching in Auto is not a good idea unless necessary - you will be cutting out a lot of depth.

Iron Mask switch 'On'

Swing slow and low........... this is THE best beach machine on the market
