New site gives up some goodies

Got out yesterday to do my first hunt at a new site I posted about on the Whites Main forum. Although I didn't find any silver coins I did manage to pull out a few decent finds including 2 pieces of silver, 2 wheats, and a small cache. The cache consisted of two heavy copper coasters or candle stands ? I found those buried about 4-5" down inside a cement block filled with sand. The MXT was showing a big target and giving a solid high 90's VDI and I figured it was trash but decided to dig and out popped the coasters. The best find of the day was a beautiful silver spoon 4" down next to a tree and buried right along the property line just as the coasters were. It was actually the second spoon I had found, the first was junk metal. The silver spoon is marked "S.S.S. BY ONEIDA". Also found a small silver pendant/charm with "Hope" engraved on it. Third target of the day was the ring. My heart was pumping when I saw that bright silver color shining in the sunlight but I believe it's polished, faceted aluminum. Still a really neat find. The two wheats were both found less than an inch down. A 56' and a 58' both D mint and in nice cond. The broken piece in the bottom of the one pic is an old piece of Chevy trim ( anyone recognize it ? ) I also found some old, rusty relic/hardware pieces that appear to pre-date the house so I'm hopeful of finding more older stuff on later hunts. The ground was reading around 40. I was running the 10"DD in C/J mode with the gain at max and the disc. at 2. I will be going over the entire area with my other coils next hunt after I finish up all the open areas. All in all I'm pretty stoked on the results of my first private property hunt. Thanks.

Nice finds, keep at it! There is surely more goodies there to be had, GL!

You're doing fantastic Scott. Love all the things you're coming up with. HH, Nancy

Kinda makes you wonder at the wisdom behind burying the trays in a c-block doesn't it!

My guess is you've got a winning site there!

I'm glad to see that you are back out detecting again. Looks like the quality of your finds are getting better too. I'm digging lots of clad and a few wheaties with this new DFX.

Keep working that site.

Very cool! that coil is doing great for you

I believe there is a lot of more interesting things to find at that site

good luck!

Very nice! Cant wait for you to go back and post more. I love getting into places like that!

Those are great finds. In an area that is not trashy, I love to use a 10"DD coil with gain on max, and the discrimination set on 3. HH

Thanks all. Haven't been able to get out to hunt that site again yet. JohninNC that's exactly what I've found in my few times out with the 10"DD, so far I love it. BTW- the "junk" ring i found actually turned out to be a high-quality polished aluminum with mother of pearl inlay in 16 facets around the band. Nicer than a some of my "good" ring finds. My daughters coming back home from Louisiana and I think she'll love it.
