New site gives up old silver

. I found a few new sites over the last few weeks since my old sites have stopped producing
old coins for me. Yesterday I went to a small park and used the stock coil to find $1.59 in clad
and memorial cents, several buried soda cans and the usual pull tabs. Most of the targets
ranged from the surface down to six inches deep. About an hour into the hunt I got a
13-39/40/41 signal that read eight inches on the E-trac depth meter. I was hoping for something
good since it was deeper than the other targets. After a few minutes digging I was able to pull
out a fist-sized rock and two other rocks that were a bit smaller. The pin pointer gave a clear,
higher pitched signal at the bottom of the hole so I scooped out a few more inches of dirt and
found this 1854 Seated Quarter in the dirt pile. That was the only old coin of the hunt but there
is a lot more ground to cover there so I'll go back as soon as I get a chance.

Did you do any research to see how old the park is?

Congrats on an outstanding find ! :beers:

What a pretty coin! Would love to find one of those.

Awesome find!! Congrats!!!

I didn't research the park specifically. The village was founded in 1810 though.
The park itself was dedicated in 1956 but it was either a house site or farm field
before that.

That's one awesome "only" coin of the hunt: CONGRATS. looks like really good grade as well! I found an 08-D Barber quarter and 1884 IH recently among tons of Memorials in a yard: it's a great high to pull one of those old coins from the ground if only one or a few. I have found just 4 Seated Liberty dimes, nothing larger.

Very nice. Found my fair share of seateds this year, but still have never dug a seated quarter. Congrats!!!

That gives me hope for the parks in my area....most are from the same time period as yours and I havent gotten anything other than clad and one wheat. I'll have to keep at it! Congrats on the outstanding coin!
