Lately, I've been finding more than my share of pop rivets that have broken loose from chairs and stuff that people take to the beach then rush to pick up when the high tide starts to overtake where they set up. I haven't very often used a sifter of any sort, but since the rivets have been going through my scoop, I figured it might be time to use a sifter.
I found a fish basket in the restaurant supply store that looks promising and it is inexpensive. It is part number PLFP0001. It is 18 inches in diameter. If you search on the part number, lots of sellers show up. You need to watch the shipping charges if you order on line.
I may need to go with a bigger noodle float ... but as is, it is pretty easy to carry. I can clip the tow line to the basket side or one of the tie wraps and just throw the loop over my shoulder and go, with the detector in one hand and the scoop in the other.
Not sure when I'll go try it, but the rivets are not going to fall through this sifter. The split shot and BB pellets I sometimes find won't fall through this sifter either. If you look at the picture, there is a penny and a small wire connector in the sifter. I just hope it lets the sand and dirt through in sufficient quantities. It is all plastic so I should be able to use a pinpointer with it.
Cheers,
