NEW Should I BUY ETrac SEEMS COMPLICATED???

I have not had a metal dector since 1985 that being a White 6000 Pro and I liked it but sold and quit detecting 25 years ago..... Can buy ETrac used 3 times for $1000.00 Is it a GOOD BUY???? AND is it TOO COMPLICATED for a starting out Coin Hunter???? Thanks in advance....

Price is excellent. I was a newbie and had no problems. It does take a little to get used to but worth every minute when it just "clicks". Just make sure you do it right, ex. read the forums for a wealth of information, read Andy Sabisch's book on the Etrac, and watch lots of videos. And most of all don't be afraid to ask questions, that is what were here for. Believe me you will not regret your Etrac. Good luck, and HH Joe

its the best the bees knees with the progammes that are loaded and ready to use you can go out and get some good finds in already hunted out areas it absolutely rocks i am a beginner and it is a steep learning curve but check out the videos on you tube and mlotv read andys book and go out and have fun' The etrac is 2000 dollars here in england so i think that is a good price, all the members on here will help you with your queries and you will have the best there is available. if you have the emulator in the states load it and work the controls i am a real thicko when it comes to technical things and i have got it tamed in about 3 months and i love it this week i have found a zoomorphic snake with writing on at about 8 inches a fibula well part of at about six inches and as well as numerous small buttons silver sixpence must i go on if you want to get back into the hobby and have fun its a must dont forget check it out before purchasing also the weight is not a problem i am a lady pensioner and do six hours straight with it happy hunting

unless you are really sure that you are going to stick with it there are some really good cehaper and lighter machines. An expecially good coin machine is the Teknetics Omega-8000 and you can get one shipped with two coils for 499 if you look around. It is deep, sensitive, fun, a coin magnet, and half the price new. I have both and like both.

Just saying...

10000000% my experience also. You already see the re-sale value should you not like it. You won't lose much if any.

price good, detector good, but heavy if you dont have problem with weight buy.

I owned and operated a Mine Lab X-Terra 70 for four years and it is supposed to be a light detector. About 4 months ago I switched and bought a Mine Lab E-Trac which is supposed to be heavier machine, now to be truthful with you I can't tell much difference in swinging either machine. The E-Trac is so well balanced I just haven't noticed any real difference and I have a bad back.

As far as learning the machine, Yes there is a learning curve to the E-Trac, but not a difficult one, when I first bought my E-Trac I felt I had bought a machine that was going to take awhile to get the machine down pat. The dealer I purchased my machine through gave me a copy of Andy Sabisch's book on the E-Trac and I read it several times and I keep it handy as a reference. Read your Owners manual. Read this forum and ask lots of questions and you'll soon be having lots of fun with it just like the rest of us. It will constantly amaze you at what it can do.

I also wouldn't pass up that price if I were you.

I just ordered a new etrac, and it should be here some time next week. I can't wait to get started detecting with it, but I want to do it right. Is there an instructional video that comes with it? I ordered Andy's book, but not sure if it will get here first. I currently use a Whites DFX, and I know the etrac will be totally different, but I don't think it will be that bad. I'm glad that these forums are here, and I will appreciate any advice that you guys can give me.

Thanks,
Mike

have you loaded the emulator it will help you with the way around the controls when you get your etrac we are all here to advise you and i am thrilled your going to have such an amazing time make sure your earphones have adjustable volume on them if not turn down volume on your etrac and make it a more happy experience when it starts singing like a canary, are you ready for all that DEEP digging????????????

I would recommend a used Explorer SE PRO or even the Explorer II.
You dont know if you will like the tones of the Explorer series yet and some people just can not adjust to them.
The Explorer series all work and detect about the same.

Just my humble opinion.

No instructional video Mike. The Emulator, Andy's Book and Youtube....and just plain running, diggin' and learning your machine are your instructions.

I did not find it too overwhelming to learn, although I must admit I am still learning and probably will be learning for years. It is as complicated or as simple as you want to make it. I was advised to use the standard coin program with just a few changes in the expert menu that would be helpful for the area I was hunting. Like any new machine at first you will have to dig some trash....lot of trash  which is fine because even trash is a learning experience. But by listening to experienced users and applying what I have learned on my own I am now after about 6 months starting to feel I am getting an understanding on what the machine is telling me. If you wait on and dig only the classic signals i.e. 12-45 for dime you will miss much more than you dig. That is why you have to dig some things that are "iffy" it is not that the E-Trac is fibbing to you it is telling you things are there amongst the trash or on edge or so very deep. I have been amazed when digging such signals to find a silver dime at 6" along with a old screw cap, a bit of plated metal and some foil all in the same hole, and it turned out to be a 1912 Barber Dime! Here is the video to show you what the E-Trac can do. Doug uses an E-Trac too, and Roger has an Explorer.

I received my E-Trac last Friday, to me its much easier to use than the BH landstar I was using (trying to use).
I only have about 2 hours on it but so far I like it.
If you are looking for a machine in that price range then go for it, thats 100 less than a new SE Pro.

If you are metal detecting in my neck of the woods, don't buy it, get yourself a $200 machine. The E-Trac is one of the most uncomplicated detectors out there, a true turn on and go machine.

Thats not what they are saying on the whites mxt forum, they say the Etrac is too hard and not a wise choice for a beginner........go figure!!! I love it when people just talk out there a#$

O and you cannot say your opinion over there because they jump down your back. But according to the moderator I should not have been there anyway because I do not own a MXT. I did not know that is how these forums worked.

If you bought it and stayed in the factory coins mode and auto sens you wouldn't be doing anything wrong and find tons of great things for the rest of your life.
It really is only as complicated as you chose to make it.

That is not what I said at all Joe, and people can view for themselves. You were clearly trying to start trouble on the MXT forum as you are here.
