New Shaft Locks for our Straight Rods!

graytcote

New member
I would like to introduce our new Shaft Locks that will come on all of our Custom Straight Rods. The best Rods are now even better! We have straight rods for most brands especially for the Excal and Sovereigns. The Shaft Locks will end the freeze problems all of us have had with our lower shafts in fresh and salt water. Our low prices on the all of our Rods will be the same (mostly under $100.00). Replacement Shaft Locks for all 7/8" Rods are available for only $11.00 shipped. See my website for lots more details!

Check out Garrett's new AT Pro Detector coming out in November if you haven't already. It is a land detector that you can take down to 10' deep in water! The info is really impressive and very interesting. I have 7 pages of AT Pro info on my website.

Indian Nations detectors

Below is the New Shaft Lock shown on an Excal Rod with an Excal lower shaft for an example

Looks like a nice upgrade over the twist and lock style cams! :clapping: I'll be ordering a few from you in the near future:thumbup:

Nice setup ....Will you guys be offering the Shaft Locks seperately for us guys that want to make our own custom setups ? .......Thanks, Jim

If U want to make you own excal shaft and get the tubing from Aircraft spruce there is only .001 difference between the lower rod and the tube ID making any type of lock unnecessary

Erikk,
I"'m assuming that you are talking about the 6061T6 ROUND ALUMINUM that they sell ? .......Great site !!....Thanks, Jim

Errik
That must've been you gave the tip on aircraft spruce. I owe you a beer !!!!
I bought 48" of Aluminum and made my own shaft. It works great !!!
It started to stick a little so i put some silicon grease on it and haven't had any problems since.
Think it only cost me $18 with shipping and you're right the lock isnt needed anymore

Still handy to have one arround for existing shafts though i have had 2 normal minelab camlocks break on me

Yup and U can make the shaft any length you want. Another tip: Unless U take it apart EVERY TIME after U hunt it will freeze up and will become a one piece rod. I don't bother because once I get it to the length I want I just let it become one piece!

Erikk .....Check !!.....Thanks for the tip ...I have this site Bookmarked ....Do they slide OK ? ....No seam to get in the way ? ......Thanks again ......Jim

Jim
It slides fine as long as you lube it and work it free from time to time. I just drilled a few holes and have been moving it around to find the length i like. I hunt in about chest deep salt water every time i go out. Good way to cool off in Florida. When i get home i rinse with fresh water. There is no seem and comes taped around a board so it will not bend in shipping.

I''m trying to figure out how you can fit a 3/4 inch lower rod ( .75 ) into a 7/8 rod ( .745 ) ...........??????.......Am I missing something here ? ..... I'm assuming that you have to do a little bit of sanding on the lower rod ??.....THanks, Jim

No sanding required it just works. Little tight at first but after you slide it a few times and grease it works out fine.
The pipe does the sanding for you. I have not measured the lower rod, but i don't think its a true .75. Even if it is it the aluminum sands it for you and best of all no crazy cam lock to break.

ID 0.745 WALL .065 Wt./Ft.0.1983 Part No 03-36450 Price $3.20 Per Ft

Yeah, that was my thoughts too that the lower rod was not a true .75 OD. ...... I would bet that the Aircraft Aluminum is pretty much what they say it is ..... Loose fitting Aluminum is not good for the Aircraft Industry !!.....:yikes: .....Jim

Erikk
THanks again for your information .....WOW !!.... .001 clearance ....Not much to speak of .... Tigher than a crabs a............. Jim
