New Scoop Is Here And It's PERFECT

There will be some new "heat" in the lane soon, as Max would say. I've been looking for a new scoop for a while. I have a nice basket scoop that's pretty strong that does well in the wet sand and water and drains very well, but it lacks size and it's tough digging the deep stuff, though I have "made do" quite well with it. I also have a big aluminum water scoop that I paid well over $100 for that I pretty much hate because every time I find a taget and recover it, I have to take the thing up to the high wet sand, dump it out, and find it all over again. Which is very counter-prodeuctive and a real pain in the butt.

So what I have now is the perfect blend of the two. This scoop is STRONG AS A TANK (solid stainless steel), lighweight (4lbs), and "basket-cut" for easy draining. It's a little bigger, a little deeper, and a little longer than my old favorite and it's a little more manageable than my big behemoth scoop. I think I've found "Mr. Goodscoop". Got it on eBay for $85. The guy that sells 'em goes by "detector_items". Nice scoop!

Compared to the old...little bigger, better angle.

Deep enough, wide enough...

My First Mod! Thick rubber handlebar grip. :)

Sweet! Better grip for skakin' out that wet sand!

Now I just need to get out there and dig some gold. :)

n/t

I got one just like it off ebay for $75,
but mine didn't have the black rubber grip.
Its a great scoop that will last longer than me. :)

Only thing is you have to be careful not to get the orange handle wet.
If you do it will come loose. Get wet sand in it and it will slip off every dig. Just have to rinse it off and let handle dry and reassemble.

Be careful and keep it dry and it will stick like glue.

Y'all bidding on these or is that a Buy It Now price? How much was the shipping?
Looks nice.

He puts them up there for a starting bid of $74, no reserve, 7 days. Sometimes they get sniped for $74 at the end of the auction, sometimes they get bids. Most go for $75. Shipping is $15 for Priority Mail. I asked him to put a Buy Now on one that I wanted for $85 and he did it. I saw where he did it for somebody else too. I think it's well worth it. Looks like he puts up a couple at a time, so hopefully after this weekend he'll have some more.

I bought the solid handle for $100 Shipping included. The 2 piece for another $100. Didnt have to pay shipping you can talk to this guy.

yep i got it quick "Buy It Now" i will be taking the rubber handle off anyway! i put a "Eye Bolt" through the red bike grip from the inside, used to fasten a large dog snap so then i can snap it to a key ring on my wetsuit and drag it behind me:thumbup: then i put about 24" of pipe insulation foam from red grip down and that will float the handle if i let go of it,also makes a nice soft digging lever against my shoulder should i pull/dig toward myself with the scoop!

The one I put down towards the scoop? I think it came from the bicycle department at Wal*Mart. It's a bike handlebar grip, so anywhere they have 'em. Makes it nice for shaking out wet sand...stainless steel is slippery when wet.
