Haven't seen any feedback on the new 12" coil for the explorer yet. Talk to me out there and let me know how they are working. Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I just finished a field test of the X-12 Explorer coil. I took it to a number of old camps and Battle of Nashville sites. I am doing a field test report which I will post here very soon along with pics. I have been very impressed with this new coil. It is light weight and easy to swing. I was very satisfied with how sensitive it was to small targets (small caliber pistol bullets) and it discriminated iron nails with ease. My most impressive (to me) find was a ground burst 12 pndr Cannonball. I had dug a fragment of it 11 years ago at a depth of 7-8 inches and didn't receive any further signal when I rechecked my hole. The X-12 gave me a deep, smooth tone (I was testing all metal) when I passed over the area. I pinpointed and at depths of 12-18 inches, I retrieved the Borman fuse, underplug, two hand fulls of lead "case shot" and more than half the Cannonball fragments. I'll post the pics and details soon. I didn't have the new solid skid plate which would have helped keep the snags out of the coil, however they now come with the X-12 (solid and open) for a limited time. I can't wait to try the S-12 on my Sovereign. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
