New Quattro owner

Hello all,
I am a long time White's user who decided to try something new. I bought a used Quattro about 2 weeks ago. It's in great shape and came with the stock 10 inch coil. I took it to a local trashy park and the flute music began. It drove me nuts and I started to regret throwing away the shipping box. While being frustrated, a lady came up and told me about how the public swimming pool used to be there but now only the steps from the road remained. It sounded promising but I knew I needed a smaller coil I have a friend with an Explorer II who I knew had an 8 inch and 4x7 inch coil. I borrowed the smaller coils and hit the area around the steps. By slowing down and listening I started to pick out the high pitched coin sounds. The Wheat pennies started showing up. Then a child's ladybug pin and finally a silver Rosy dime. I found several coins with nails and other rusted objects in the same hole. I can't say I've ever done that before.

I have to say I love the Quattro now. It just takes time like any other detector. To me the small coil is an absolute necessity in an area with even moderate trash. Now, I just need to buy my own small coil.

Hi dirty nails
Sloooow sweep speed is the key to the Quattro. Be patient and take time to learn the sounds. I to was a long time whites user but I doubt I would ever switch back. Dont give up on the 10.5" coil. Small coils are nice for the trash but if you want those 10+ inch coins the big coil is the way to go. Good luck out there. The best is yet to come.
