This is a bench patio I've been working on, my first ever. I've been using the centuries old handmade brick that were stacked on the property. I'm having to knock mortar off most of them, but I think it adds "character" to the finished product. The brick pad will be 12' x 5', and on it will sit a bench with a big potted plant on either side.
Don't pay any attention to the level in the second photo, its just for looks. I've decided to go ahead and build in the sunken dips, irregular bricks, and sloping patio... why wait for 200 years to do it, when I can do it right now? Plus it'll match the rest of the house. I will post a photo of the completed area when it's done.
OK, so it's not the Great Wall of Chinia... but I don't have 200 years and tens of thousands of slave laborers either.
