"I'm surprised there's no update to the GTI2500."
I am wondering about it here, too. The GTI2500 is excellent, but I wonder what Garrett could consider to add or improve to it.
It's a bit heavier compared with my Teknetics Gamma, but the batteries probably account for the extra weight. Still, a powerful and accurate detector.

At the very least, they could just give it a facelift. I think that'd make many happy. I'm sure it'd be possible to squeeze the same performance out of less batteries. Just little things like that would help. There's been a lot of comments on various threads like an adjustable arm cup.
