Having a little laugh over the color choice of the Garrett ACE series. I found a video of several detectors comparisons that included the Ace 250. A comment in the video that stood out to me was the choice of color was done so people would see it from a distance and recognize it. It likely makes some search out the manufacturer of the yellow detector they saw being used in the park. I considered painting my yellow detector more than once to something like black or camo. Then I remembered while bow hunting once I laid my camo recurve bow on the forest floor and walked a short distance away looking at tracks. I turned back around and didn't see my bow on the ground amoung the leaves. Good camo worked so well it took a while to find it. I decided to keep my detector yellow so I would see it from a distance and not lose it in the woods.
I'm thinking I might stick with the yellow machines for awhile.

Well......paint and tape is cheap!

HAHHAHAHAH Yea I guess it is !!............ Anyone know more details about the 400 yet.. I couldn't really read the pic print on my screen.

Nothing....they remain water proof, still have custom/pro mode, go deeper then the ACE Series and will always be a better all around machine then the new entry level ACE Series. And the ACE Series are now a much better entry level machine for the new people entering the hobby, still at a great price.

Now they should atleast consider getting rid of the 150 , its a simple , cheap but effective detector for the newbie but it has so little to offer , a person is better off adding just a few more dollars and stepping up a notch or two. For that matter , without the numerical ID the 250 should be phased out too. With the addition of the new ace models with numerical ID , the 350 without it makes more sense to be the true bottom rung of the of the introductory level detectors. But oh well , that's just my opinion.

Would have been nice if they designed a larger DD coil for the Pro series. They are losing a ton of $$$ to NEL and I would buy a coil direct from them as opposed to an aftermarket.

Or a smaller dd, also available from nel.

Would be nice if on the AT Pro and the Gold, they could add "backlit" screen.

It's nice to see. I think the Ace series was ready for upgrade.

Aside from a possible back light and a larger screen, I'm not sure what improvements they can make to AT line that wouldn't end up just being a re-packaging of current technology.

I highly doubt the AT line will be considered obsolete any time soon.

 really good camo.

Here's a prediction: they are going to sell those Ace 400's by the bushel.

After reading all the threads, I had to tell my story of the Garrett ACE 350 . My friend, Lucky Jeff use's the Garrett ACE 350 and we where detecting a field/park . The back side of the field had a slope which led straight into a lake front..
Jeff decided to take the yellow canary down towards the water. The area is a old local park but on the right side and left side of the borders of the lake are a few house's. I was concentrating my detecting on the top of the field, After about a hr of detecting, 2 police cruisers drove straight across the field towards me. I first thought ooh boy this is not good, whats the problem going to be now?
They wanted to know who had the yellow spray paint can. I replied , what are you talking about. The officer stated that they received a phone call from a home owner on the lake. The home owner stated they where bird watching and noticed a guy by the edge of lake, spray painting yellow paint all over the tree's. The two officers went down the hill toward the lake and confronted jeff , they asked him about the spray paint. Jeff of course was confused, then the officer figured out it was the swinging of the yellow detector that the home owner thought was somebody spray painting trees yellow.
How many times have you encountered or had a complaint from noisy people.
happy treasure hunting
dennis

Interesting info, thanks. Funny, but sometimes I miss my old 250.
