Ralph, I love the F75, and I can WAIT to get a probe to complete the package. I'm curious though, have you ever thought about building some sort of pressure switch into the probe holder, that would automatically switch from coil to probe when the probe was removed from the clips? It was just a thought, as I always seem to forget to switch back to coil after I get done with the probe, and this type of system would prevent that. Anyhow, thanks for humoring me.

We thought of that years ago but it was not feasible, would have added cost, and would have provided something else to break or malfunction. If you get in the habit of switching back to coil just before or as you are getting up from a retrieval it becomes second nature and soon you will seldom forget. I have been using one since 1997 and seldom forget to switch back to coil.

got my probe a little over a week ago and its top knotch. Installed easily..and works great. looking forward to trying it in the field. I've wanted one of these for quite some time. thanks for listening to us (F75 users) and getting it to the market so quick! Streak!

Hey ralph, I have a new F75 on the way next week, I was just wondering how much of a power drain if any on the F75 batterys and does this unit just plug in somewhere on the F75 unit, Thanks James..

James,

The search coil plugs into the FX-1 switch box and the switch box plugs into the F-75 control housing. No extra power drain as the coil is turned off when the probe is turned on.

Thanks ralph, I totally understand..Great thinking..Ive read good things about the probe, 3" to 4" probing from target very impressive.I might have to snag one of these soon...james

Ralph,

Just added the FX-1 to my F-75. Only thing I would like to see would be a LED on the left of the switch (I'm right handed) that would give a visual that the swotch is in the "Probe" position. Can't see it behind the shaft and I know there will come the time or twelve when I am sweeping merrily along with the coil off and the probe on.

I guess worrying about it is enough to keep it fresh in my mind so I check often.

Charlie,

Once you get in a routine you shouldn't have a problem. I've been using an in-line probe since 1997 and switching is almost as automatic as standing up again after a retrieval. Not that I don't occasionally forget but not often.

Adding an LED light would require a separate battery and the signal could be affected according to our engineer. We are better off leaving good enough alone. Hope you enjoy the FX-1.

Maybe so. I overcame the odds and now walk and chew gum simultaneuosly and almost casually in spite of what the high school counselors told me. I can probably overcome this, too.

I've had folks ask me if my detector was a Geiger Counter. Now I have the probe to sweep over them for added effect. :bouncy:

Good stuff. Thanks again for coming out with the FX-1. Makes a great detector gooder!

sounds great and I keep reading great feedback..I need to scarf one of these up and give it a shot..james
