New Probe Attacks Playground

Loaded up the Pro for a run at the elementary school once again. This makes our sixth run at a play ground area about 100 x 100 yards. To date we have pulled well over 400 quarters, 200 dimes 100 nickles and a box of penny's. Also got 4 recent dollars and a silver ring.

Started out about 7:00 am as soon as the gate to the school was opened. I searched an area that we had not hit. It was behind the baseball back stop and was about 30 x 30 yards. I started hitting sweet 84-85 tones on the pro right away. In 15 minutes I had 10 quarters and a couple dimes. I hit an 89 tone which to me sounds a bit different than an 84-85, anyway out pops a new dollar. I forgot to tell you I was digging everything with my new probe.

L.J. my hunting buddy made me a probe that has a forked end on it. Sort of a two prong picker. It is about 7' long with prongs that are about 3.5 inches. It is so neat. I can pop a penny out of the ground in 2 seconds. The neat trick is to find a coin (mostly Quarters) pin point it with the Pro, then use your Garrett Pro Pointer to zero in on it before you probe. Probe the coin. Once you hit it, hook one of the prongs under the coin. Now it is in the "V" of the picker, Start putting pressure on the under side of the coin with the picker and it will pop right out. Neat, Neat, Neat. I use it for anything less than 3 inches. In wet ground I can use it to about 4". Another great tool. L.J. made it from a screw driver shank, a couple of ground down phillips head screw driver shafts cut to about 3.5" and welded to the screw driver shank. Then he drills a gear shift knob or a golf ball and uses that for the handle. Old L.J. is a great welder.

After about 30 quarters, I hit a solid 85 on several sweeps. Hu-Oh, sounds like silver. I used my picker and out pops a kids silver ring from about 3" of very dry ground. Weighs 2.7 grams. Neat little ring. That is the only jewelry we have found at the school so far.

At the end of the day after hunting for about 3 hours I wound up with my best day ever in quarters. A new style dollar, 51 QUARTERS, (Not one silver quarter), 21 dimes, 5 nickles, 26 penny's and a silver ring. I dug 7 quarters in one hole, all stacked on top of each other. It VDI'ed 99. I dug two holes with 2 quarters and a dime in each and a hole with 12 penny's. A great day for an Old Guy.

I forgot to mention I dug my second Kennedy Half also.

Thank you for Viewing and Happy Hunting
