New Prizm VI (6)

robert roy

New member
I was asking Whites a few questions about their detectors and asked if anything NEW was coming out.
He said "YES" He said the Prizm VI is coming out but he didn't give me a date or have any information about the new machine.
Should be interesting to see what transpires.

Can't imagine a PrizmVI and an M6. I just wish they had a Modified 6.59kHz IDX Pro with Tone ID, a depth meter and battery strength indicator. HH Bill

I am totally with the Modified Classic IDX Pro concept you stated. While they are at it, put it on a "T" Handle like the MXT. I would buy one in a heartbeat. ...........This Prizm VI thing, I am wondering about. They tried that last year and had to shelf it for verious reasons. I can't see how they can build a Prizm VI for a reasonable price when the Prizm V was a little Pricey. Maybe better Micro Technology today??? Hopefully we will see soon.

If there is a Prizm VI, you will see ground balancing added and a "tweaked" circuit or new circuitry to satisfy the IDX Pro, IDX, and Classic Lovers. Being truthful about it, letting the IDX's go without a suitable replacement was not the best thing to do (of course there may be those of the opinion that the Prizms are better than the IDxs)... I would rather have an IDX Pro anytime as any one of the Prizms though in the right hands they can produce well....Thanks Richard R

Hi Richard,

I have a modified IDX Pro and could only imagine how much i would love this detector with optional Tone ID, a depth and battery strength indicator. What the heck else would we need ? OH Yeah VDI #'s:smoke: HH Bil

Well, I hope we're not all disapointed.
Whits machines is a bit too much money.
If they are operating on "what the market will bare,"
they might do well to back off that primis and
lower their prices a bit. They might end up
making MORE money in the long haul.
AHHHhhhhh us arm chair business men!

Hi robert,

No armchair businessman here but i get your point. If Whites would offer a Modified IDX Pro with optional Tone ID,VDI meter, Auto tracking with manual overide, a battery strength bar and Depth readout at 6.59kHz and could design a few good performance DD coils they could do away with the Prizm and M6. The Fisher F5 looks like an attempt at the concept and i hope it sells like gangbusters if it's any good and has a small coil option but would rather have 4 AA batts vs dual 9 volts. Am i missing something here ?. Just want something thats real practical and easily functional. HH Bill

Haven't seen anything about a Prizm VI, but the MXT 300 and DFX300 are now on the White's web site. Basically the same machines as before with the 12" coil and a $100 higher price Considering my own experience and a good number of others I've read on forums, many of us don't like the 9.5 due to its poor handling of trash so how is the 12" any improvement? Maybe White's is trying to increase the sale of the 4X6shooter and the 5.3 coils? I'd like to see a newer, LIGHTER machine with similar characteristics to the MXT rather than adding a coil and a new name. My two bits.
Bill

I'm with you Bill, actually a combined IDX/ XL-Pro would be a great detector. Add switch on and off tones maybe. XL-Pro with a 2 or 4 filter switch, with the 2 filter part as good as or better than the IDX, they could sell a ton of them. I guess you can tell I like both the XL-Pro and IDX!

In reference to all the bells and whistles you fellows want from the past 9 posts, its been out for the past 10-15 years on one machine.
The Compass X100-X200 and the [ only ] reason why it never caught on was, total weight of machine,5.4 lbs.If by chance you should come across one, field test it and you might be surprised...

Thats a bit too heavy for me. The MXT is already at 4.3 pounds with batteries.
Personally I don't really need the bells and whistles.
