A new place to hunt just opened up and from what I can tell it has not been hunted in a very long time or not at all. Yesterday while out looking for a place to do a quick hunt I saw that they have torn down the fences at a very old Little League field and from what I found out later they are the oldest baseball fields in the city. Got out of work at 3:00 pm as usual and it was pretty hot and I was looking for a place with soft ground and plenty of shade. There is a huge old park just down the street from where I work it dates back to the 20's I have dug lots of my oldest silver from here, anyway the baseball field is right across the street so I started hunting there not much shade but plenty of soft grass on Thursday I dug for about an hour and called it a day but got a handful of clad and 1 wheat penny. While I was hunting I noticed a older man across the street watching me on one of the passes closest to his side he waved I waved back next time on the way toward him I saw him cross the street and watch me from the outside of a fence that is still standing and I'm thinkin great he's going to give me some kind of grief but as I got near him he asked how's it going and if that thing really worked I pulled out the change I had found and he laughed and was just amazed at what I had found in a short time. We chatted for a minute or two and I asked if he owned the house he was at and he said he did I told him I had another machine (my old BH) and if he was interested I would bring it on Friday and we could go through his front yard, he said he did own it and the one next to it and he would let me hunt both yards and he would watch for a bit if I didn't mind. Did I mind? heck no I figure the houses to be circa 40's early 50's and from what I am told this was the better part of town way back then. After that I started to hunt back to my truck and ran right into one of the guys in charge of the ballpark I start talking to him and he gives me the low down on what they are doing and the history of the baseball field and so I say hope it's ok to hunt and he says oh sure he would be glad to have someone hanging around and maybe it would keep anyone from messing with stuff while the fence is gone so I'm thinking score right. So I get out of work today and rush over to the ballpark, today was hotter than yesterday so I figure I would get in at least an hour or so, first couple of targets are clad next is a wheat unknown date and I'm thinking ok good dates should be some silver up to now most of the coins except the wheat were in the 2 to 4 inch range next target is a 1961 Roosevelt dime at about 6" down must have been on its edge as I did happen to put a couple of scratches on it with my screwdriver but it is still a good looking coin. Saturday is supposed to be a lot cooler upper 70's and guess where I'll be all day. Game plan for Saturday sand volleyball court 6:00 - 7:00 am Fair parking lots 7:15 - 9:00 our Fair is going on now so there is always plenty of surface finds 9:30 - 1:00 or so Ball field and maybe a quick check in the yards to test the signals and depths anyway here's today's goods thanks for reading and good luck to everyone this weekend
