New PI waterproof detector....which one??

itsaawgood

New member
So I have a White's Spectra V3i, a Garrett AT Pro, and a Fisher F2 (which Im trying to sell). I use the AT Pro in the water right now but am looking to add a waterproof PI machine to my collection. I would like to hear from current PI owners on their experience with their machine. Even better would be people that have owned different models and can give a good comparison. I am not brand loyal so any make & model waterproof PI machine right now is a consideration. Thanks in advance for your input!

For the $ you cant beat either a Garrett Sea Hunter 2 or a Tesoro Sand shark, and the Tesoros are lifetime warranty and are a pleasure to deal with
just buy a good scoop you ll need it for sure
good luck
John

I have one of the best water scoops available.....super, super heavy duty.....deep, difficult, and rocky digging is no problem. The scoop can outperform the user....lol

Everyone has an opinion so I'll share mine... two easy to use and deep machines are the Whites Dual Field which I use as do many of my hunting buddies and the Detector Pro Headhunter PI which my hunting partner uses with great success...

Go with the Tesoro Sand Shark - you will LOVE this machine! - T

I just got a sand shark wit 10.5" coil & am liking it. Runs VERY stable, pinpointing is a breeze, easy to swing when mounted under the elbow, & plenty of depth & sensitivaty. You can def get a lil more depth out of a DF but you could be making adjustments & tuning on the fly to get max depth & stability. Depends on where you are & conditions. Sand shark is simple & rock solid unit.
Also, you cant change coils on new sand sharks as they are hardwired.

I have been advised that a PI machine for hunting Lake Michigan waters would not be a good idea....here is my new thread: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?26,1474454

I know quite a few who use PI's in freshwater and are very successful but remember iron does not break down in freshwater like it does in salt... if you want more depth than a VLF has to offer then buy a PI... I like the Dual Field but there are many others out there that are very good...

Tesoro Tiger Shark!

I just got a Sea Hunter 2 for this summer. My first PI machine. I haven't used it yet. Still waiting for those warmer days.

I have a brand new HeadHunter with 11" coil. They also have an 8" and they are interchangeable. This is a very light machine and easy to use. The works are in the headphones. This an extremely deep machine. I would recommend it.
