Hi Jahal
Ya, it's great to be on the beach--even better when you find some loot! My advice for new DF hunters is this: Start by running the machine below what it's capable of. Try it with the Gain below preset, a tiny bit of Delay and lowered Threshold. This will help you a ton because:
1/ You won't be frustrated going after every little "flyspeck" in the ground that the machine's power will bring up
2/ You will begin to recognise the difference between weak or too strong signals and those ones that are in keeping in terms of their size, strength. Later on when you want to turn the machine up, you will be a lot more accurate becasue you can make these distinctions. Running the machine up high makes the weak targets sound good and there is less detail in all responses. These lowered settings still have pleny of punch and will be quieter. They will also be better where there is black sand.
3/ Concentrate on determining the size and shape of every object you hear before you dig.
The Dual Field has great audio and it's possible to become quite accurate with it if you learn your basics before trying to run it full on.
Good Luck,
