New Pennies sound like silver

Both my friend and I believe that we could hear the difference between pennies and silver dimes when we first got our Explorers last year. Now we are both digging way too many new pennies that sound like silver dimes and the target is pegged at the top of the screen. I use Ferrous and lock on the highest manual Sens. My friend uses Conductive and auto Sens. Has anyone else noticed this? I am not complaining about the operation of the machine as I have 81 silver so far this year and it is still winter here in Ohio.

I dig more of those than any other coin <IMG SRC="/forums/images/frown.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":(">

you mean modern zinc cents or copper memorials? the zincs should definately sound different, sometimes the copper ones will read near silver but tend not to stay in the upper right like silver, I bet when you do get silver you know its silver, but when you get a penny your thinking it might be silver, thats a difference.. just too close to leave.. make sure your variability is set to max also

Bud this is larry try digital in bad areas,it will help you tell the diferance, also louder signals are a give-away L.Pollock

The sound is different but close enough you have to dig a lot of them. For the medium to deep signals you can usually tell the pennies by how loud they get in pinpoint mode.
