New Park

Got access to a private park here in Lodi. I'm guessing that because it is private, there hasn't been much hunting there. My ride just pulled up. I've gotta go but I'll let you know how we did!!!! WOOHOO!!!

OMG, I wish you the best of luck. Even if you don't come home with the treasures, just remember that your coil has to be over them to get them. If it's a large area, look around and think about the old days and picture where to people would gather. Possibly under an old large tree for shade, near the bandstand, close to the water spigot. Just keep an open mind. HH, Nancy

BOOOO!!!!!!! There were three of us. A guy with a Minelab, me with my MXT Pro and a guy just getting into the hobby with a Bounty Hunter. We hunted for about two hours and only found 2 bucks worth of clad. Terrible. Either someone had already hit it or people just don't drop anything here. Even beneath the volleyball net. NOTHING! Well, you win some and you lose some. Frustrated.:rage:

It sounds like someone else has hunted it specially since the volleyball court didn't give up any finds. :surrender: Remember that every time you do get to go out, you're using and practicing more with your machine. That's the best way to get to know it. Better luck next time and HH, Nancy

In the 47 years I have been detecting I can recall finding and working a "private park" and having great success, being the only person who ever hunted it. However, most of the time that happened from about late 1968 through maybe February 1982. Since then, I have worked many "private parks" where the owner said they didn't think it had been detected, but it was rather easy to spot the signs that it had been.

Still, you very rarely 'get it all' so it never hurts to have the patience to give a site a good workout. Put in the time and effort to master your MXT. Have the patience to work a site methodically, and best of success to you.

Hey Lodihunter. To me the great thing about MD'ing is the excitement and optimistic anticipation that comes before almost every hunt (like your first post). The fact that reality usually proves to be different (your second post) never changes the fact that you're out doing something you're passionate about, getting some exercise and learning your machine. It's a no-lose situation. When you hunt an area that is also beautiful and scenic (which I do regularly) then you have yourself a mini little vacation ! JMHO Keep it up Lodi . . .the great finds are comin . . . .
