New Outlaw came and have a problem

[attachment 277974 image.jpg]Well got the Outlaw in but had a problem with the big coil. It has a crack.. See Photo.. It still works ok and the dealer give me two options, send it back for a refund or keep it and they would give me 35% refund back as they did not have a replacement. The coil works and this to me is just a cosmetic defect. I'm going to keep it and see if I can put some epoxy over it and see if that works. Would send it to Tesoro but don't think that would be right after getting 35% back. Anyone have a better way of fixing it?
By the way this is just on top of the coil, not going all the way through the coil.

You don't have a very good dealer.
A good dealer would tell you send it back and they'd get a replacement sent to you.

Don't fix it. Send it to Tesoro and have them replace it. Then find a new dealer.

Is this a new or used unit? If new, send it in to Tesoro and do as Mike says. If this is a used unit, the crack should have been disclosed before you bought it.

I would have told the dealer you have two options, send me a replacement or you can pay for the return shipping back and I will find another dealer.

I agree with Mike, neither option that he gave you was a good one, you should recieve a new coil. I would take that 35% refund and go down to the UPS store and ship it back to Tesoro for a new coil exchange. And, I would not feel bad about taking the 35% cash either because you are doing the dealer's job of replacing it, something the dealer should have done in the first place.

Ok I sent a email to Tesoro about it. Hombre I like the way you think, your right I am doing his job.

A phone call will be quicker, they just do not look at e-mail at Tesoro in a timely manner.

Call and talk to Rusty, he will take care of you. Great customer service at tesoro. When I bought my outlaw the mode switch was stuck so I called and talked to rusty. He told me to send it in so I did and it went from ME to AZ and back in a week and a half. Good as new and really fast turnaround time.

It's new and has a lifetime warranty. Send it in. Tesoro will take care of you even if your dealer won't.

the problem is if you ever want to sell the coil , your not going to get mutch if anything for it in that condition and when the water works it way in who knows , I think it should be replaced, what kinda dealer is this ? hope you like the detector

Gun, I like it a lot, it's everything you guys said it is. And with the videos you have put up I'm good to go. The coil is no big thing to me but I can see your point with water ever getting in it. I have no complaints even with the crack in the coil it was still a good deal. I still have two coils a new outlaw and a good price. I'm not going to order from that dealer any more, it could have turned out bad if it had been some other problem. I'm happy with what I have and if I get a new coil that would just make it that much better.
By the I will give the dealer Credit they did not give me a hard time. Just said here are your two options, and they would have paid the return shipping. I had it in my hand and have to much kid in me to have to reorder it, just to hard to put it back in the box and have do that all over.

A very FAST UP DATE.... Tesoro said send it to them and they would take care of it.
Problem solved.

It's beyond me why the dealer didn't instruct you to call Tesoro in the first place.

I don't have to worry about that, because I buy all my new stuff from Rusty Henry.

Well I know better now tabman, next time I know who to go to.

Ya rust henry is the man . he will treat you better than you think , 50 years metal detecting , he knows his hobby well

Glad Tesoro took care of you. Now one thing left to do and that is find a new dealer. Also tell him why you are finding a new dealer and why you will be taking your bussiness elsewhere.

Taken care of. And I now know who to go to for my detector toys.
I'm happy. Now to get out and enjoy the outlaw before Gun sends that cold wet stuff down here.
Thanks everyone for all the input, I do appreciate it.
