new Mxt which small coil

New member
thanks Richard at backwoods detectors for the prompt service wife says shes wrapping it for Christmas so i will have to wait and read the forum until can make my own finds trying to decide on which small coil the 5.3 or the 4X6 coil

Hi Andy...I have both coils but find myself using the 5.3 much much more. The 4 X 6 is great for getting in and around tight areas and gives good solid signals. If it's one or the other, my money would go for the 5.3 first. That's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...........

I have just picked up the Excelerator DD 8 inch coil and think it is a good balance between stock and the 5.3. Good trash seperation and goes deep.

One more choice that should not be overlooked and that is the 4.5 X 7 Excelerator. It is a killer coil. It goes deep for a small coil. It is in my MXT's arsenal of coils along with the 4x6 and the 6 x 10 and the new 10"DD Excelerator. Good luck with your choice. HH Dennis in Idaho

It works so good for trashy area and is the first small coil I have seen that has some great depth that I never needed to try a different small coil. Many people have been impressed by this coil around here when they see what it can pull out of those worked to death area with a lot of trash.
Some day maybe I will have to try a 5.3 coil and see if like some say it gets more depth, but if it does I will have to see it myself around here and how well it will work in trash.
