Hello to all and thanks for a great forum. I have learned many things here just by spending time reading everything I can. I do have one question that I cannot find the answer to: What is the difference between the DX-1 black Sunray probe and the white one? I have the opprtunity to buy either at different prices though and am just wanting to know the difference.

Hi Niles welcome to the forum. From what I understand is that they both are the same except for the black is the "new" color. I could be wrong, but that's what I was lead to believe. Hope that helps.

The white ones are the older probes while the black one are the new ones being made now, but other than that they are the same I understand
 
If you can buy the white one right but want black, a can of black spray paint can be had for a couple of bucks. Clean the probe well, I use Acetone, and spray away. With use, the paint will wear on the end. Touch-ups are cheap.
 
My white one is black because I wrapped it in electrical tape - easy to replace as the end gets worn.
 
I am waiting for all my purchases to come in now. I bought the black (slightly used/newer DX-1), an MXT-300 (slightly used), Jimmy Sierra digging kit, true temper planters buddy, etc. All should be here this week/next week. I have seen so many posts from Nancy and Larry that I feel this is a good starting outfit (I had an MXT years ago but never had the time to hunt). I only want 2 more coils other than the 12"; I want the bigfoot for the soccer fields (waiting for the new ones to be offered from Jimmy Sierra), and the 6" x 10" DD coil for everyday use and then I will have my dream gear now that I have the time to hunt again. I covered mne with an offcut of a bycicle inner tube for protection so its both colours in one now:biggrin:
