New MXT - I'm in Northern VA

Hello! I am relatively new to metal detecting. A few years ago I've purchased a $50 model from Radio Shack. I am so looking forward to starting with this MXT that I bought 2 weeks ago but we've been saddled with snow, rain and more snow. Yesterday and today up on Bull Run Mountain we got 36" of snow. So, my detecting is now delayed for a few. We'll be shoveling and digging ourselves out. Oh yeah - it's amazing how much better the MXT works when you read the manual :)

Hi DavidJames! Welcome to the wonderful world of the MXT. I too started off with a Radio Shack and after a few machines, I have the MXT. Wouldn't have any other detector. I've had mine almost 9 years and it's still in tip top shape. They are still one of Whites best sellers too. You won't be sorry and you will get your money back over and over again......as long as you use it. You'll have to wait for Spring to come. I've been counting the days. Sure would be nice to be able to go hunting, but not in this cold. Welcome aboard and we have a lot of wonderful people here and there's a lot of information in the archives. Just do a search and you'll find a lot. If not, all you have to do is ask. HH, Nancy

Welcome David from a neighbor in Woodbridge. Also bought an MXT a couple of months ago, but due to the weather have not had it out. Maybe we'll meet up in the future.

You got youraself a good detector.
You might still be able to MD. Look for slopes where
people take their kids for snow boarding. There a couple of guys
at the Garrett forum who consistently find things on those sites.
