New MXT guy just saying Hello!

Howdy Folks! Thank you for having me on your forum. I am new to the Metal Detecting business, hailing from SF Bay Area. Just got my Whites MXT a week ago, got the base coil and the Eclipse DD with it. So far dug up my back yard, got a bunch of change, pulltabs, old sprinkler and some nails. Also tried going to the beach (San Gregorio) and got a few quarters and pennies out there as well as a large assortment of junk (nails, lead weight, spoon, and bottlecaps). MXT is a lot of machine for a newbie like me, but I am figuring it out bit by bit. Also learning where its ok to dig and where it isnt - dont want to break laws or be rude but at the same time dont want to miss out on potentially good spots.

Best Regards,

Gene

Welcome aboard Gene and congratulations on your new machine. I think you will learn to love the hobby and also the machine. You're in a great spot for detecting. It's beautiful out there too!
We've got a lot of great people here with a lot of knowledge about detecting and the MXT. You've found the right spot! HH (happy hunting) and good luck! Nancy

Gene,

I new to Metal Detecting also, I'm learning just like you are. The people here are great. Anything you have a question about, they will answer. I am having a great time with mine also. Good luck and happy hunting

Welcome Gene, I to am a native of SF Bay area born and raised in Vallejo Ca. My wife was born in Martinez, we have lived in Pittsburgh and Antioch. Living in OK.now  Hope I can talk her in to moving back in a couple of years. Miss being in GOLD country. Found allot of that yellow stuff with my detector hope you to will try a little prospecting with your MXT, Its a great little machine. My advice is get yourself a 6 X 10 DD coil you will need it in the highly mineralized soil of the bay area.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
Bob, I did pick up Whites Eclipse DD its a 6x10 DD Coil but havent tried it yet. Definitely going to do some prospecting - I got friends in Gold Country who do some sluicing/panning. I've also been doing research on ghost towns - got loads of them in California.

Best Regards,
Gene

Based on my personal needs there isn't any other detector I would trade for my MXT with the 6x10 coil. Welcome and good luck.
