New MXT 300 user

Wrench

New member
Hello all, Recently received my new MXT300 form White's. I chose the 4X6 coil as the additional coil from their Christmas promotion. Anyway, I couldn't wait to use it and I hit a local sand volleyball court. I started blindly I must add, since I hadn't read the whole manual, well I got a really loud beep about 10 minutes into it, and it said overload a few times. Thought it was a pipe or something, well I pinpointed and I dug out a Rolex watch. Grass roots were growing through the wrist band and it was pitted. No rust however and the inside was nice and dry. It was about 3-5" down. Don't know if it's the real thing or not. I will take a picture and post later. I left it in a drawer at work and will not be back 'till next week. Just finding something gave me a good feeling...I'm HOOKED!!!!
A question, What is a DX1 pointer/probe? and does it benefit the MXT? a friend suggested it. I stopped by an old school to ask for permission 2 days ago, and the lady at the office was so nice. She said it was ok, even gave me a short tour of the place and told me it was built in the early 1900s. I live in San Antonio and looking forward to hitting the local areas to get my feet wet and hopefully meet some fellow enthusiasts of this fine hobby. I tell you...I think I found my new addiction!!!

Congratulations on the new MXT. They're a great machine and you'll love the 4X6 in heavy trash. The DX-1 is an excellent pinpointer/probe that mounts on the machine and uses the same electronics. when in use it registers on the display just like the regular coil, responds to the pinpint trigger (tightens the pattern) like the coil and is surprisingly deep and sensitive for a pinpointer. Down side is its dedicated to the machine it's mounted on, but at least that way you don't forget and leave it behind. I use one and wouldn't be without it. Really helps picking out small coins and other items that have taken on the color of the soil or are hard to see for whatever reason.

Hello wrench,BarberBill I would state hit the nail on the head.I wont state much more than that seeing I'm only 110 hrs into the detecing scene myself. But I'm loving it,wish it was a profession!mxt300,dx-1,4x6,5.3,6x10,I'm thinking the stock 12'' will be on the side line for a while.

Nice way to start off there Wrench. Hope the watch is real. If the second hand is constantly moving, it is a good chance it is real. If it tick - tocks, it is not real. Then again the battery is probably dead, so that won't help much I guess. Still a nice find.

Big congratulations on your find. Can't wait to see a picture and would be fantastic if it's the real McCoy!!! The DX-1 is a must in my book. Larry has sold many of them and not one complaint. Here's a picture for you and it's like having a 1" coil and your machine will display all the criteria of the object when using it. So cool. HH, Nancy

Thank you all for the welcome and advice. I'll have to save some bucks for a DX1 later on. Its a god feeling when you hear a signal and start digging. Thanks again.
