New Minelab Excalibur II finds first gold!

First dip in the water for the spring. 55 degrees out. This was in same pond I started last spring with. More of a learning exercise. I didn't expect to find gold. About an hour in I got a strong signal. I held coil above it about 6 inches and it still hit well. One scoop and wallla! Other then that...I found 3 quarters, few nickles and a few pennies. An man...pinpointing can be tough with this machine...but its not that bad. I got 10" coil and am used to using 8" from my 1280. Anyway...HH -Joe

***any thoughts on karat. Only stamps are illegible that are in close up pic.

Hi Joe, great find. I'm fairly new to the excal also, but I was taught ealy on how to pinpoint.
When you locate a target, and you swing back and forth slightly to center it, keep moving the coil back towards you, until the signal stops. The target will be under the forwad tip of the coil. When working in the water use the rear of the coil. It works the same way, and it's easier to locate where to start your scoop.
I hope I was clear, and hope this helps.
