New metal detector wireless

The XP invents the first wireless detector.... it seems very interesting :clapping:

* 4 frequencies (4kHz ; 8kHz ; 12kHz ; 18kHz) + shift plus/minus
* Power and Recovery adjustable (2 or 3 times faster/slower than the Gold Maxx Power)
* Audio Response, Iron level, Multi tone, Notch, Discrimination etc

The wireless thing seems a bit of a gimmick as I think most folks want to see the settings, target ID etc and so would leave it mounted on the machine. In that case then you are replacing a cheap, 5 foot piece of wire with an expensive, battery using radio that just drains batteries faster.

That said the rest of the machine looks pretty sweet. I really like that a detector manufacturer has finally included a usb port that can be used to flash the firmware! All I can say it that it is about time one of them did it. It is silly to have to send in the entire machine to get a firmware update when it is so easy and reliable to update the firmware in so many other devices (computers, mp3 players, dvd drives, etc) via downloadable firmware updates that can be installed via a usb port.

The detector manufacturers are scared to death that someone will access their code and reverse engineer their software, so they're in no hurry to put USB on their machines. Personally I don't think it's a big deal, that's what encryption's for.

No price listed. You think things are slow and expensive sending a unit for repair now, wait till you have to send that to France for repair or service. You don't have to use the remote control. Thought I read that you can control the detector functions from the headphones or something.
USB firmware update really helps you keep up with the improvements in the product as it evolves. Come on US manufactureres. Start using some 20th century, at least, electronics that aren't 25 years old the day the machine hits the streets....Jim

Richard Dodds in the U.K. produced wireless headphones around 25 years back and followed up later with a coil that transmitted to the control box so its not really the first, just like the Detector Pro range with all the works in the headphones did not come up with that idea first it was Rimertron with the Rimertron Crown. They still trade as Viking Detectors.

Nearly forgot. Its been suggested the price would be

I have the same opinion of this that have with my multitude of TV, VCR, DVD, DISH NETWARK, remotes..........you never can find the darned things :crylol:
