New metal control box ?

I just helped my uncle get a refurbished v3i with two year warranty from a local dealer. He got an absolute great deal on the metal detector but I was wondering, if whites would put a new metal control box on the metal detector. Or how much it might cost, if anyone knows? The control box was a little more scratched up and warn than we were expecting and I was hoping I might be able to help him get a new one put on. neither I nor my uncle are upset about the shape of the metal detector just wondering if they will install a new one if paid or if it is something they would possibly fix under warranty? Whites has always been great with their customer service and has bent over backwards to make sure I have been totally happy with everything I've ever owned and I have always bragged about Whites customer services to my uncle. Like I said, he is not upset about it at all and I imagine they will install one for a price but I was just wanting to make sure if anyone knew for sure that they did.thanks for your advise or comments, they are very much appreciated.

The best way to find out the answer is to give them a call. I would imagine sending the detector in for a new control box is no different than sending it in for any other service. I would not expect them to replace it under warranty, though, since scratches and such, however unsightly, are normal wear and tear for most people.
