Hello all I am new to thiis forum ... I just moved back from Las Vegas to Vancouver,WA so my equipment includes a whites GMT a minelab gp3500 and a drywasher... I am hoping to get into the coin relic hunting as well as gold. Now I'm wishing I had my MXT back! anyway does anyone have an opinion if either my GP3500 wor GMT for coin hunting. I now MY 3500 will find stuff 3' in the ground but I have a little easier identyfying coins with my GMT. I was very impressed by some all of the finds Iv'e seen so far! I have a few as well from ghost towns in NV and AZ but mostly gold nuggetts any suggestions on my equipment would be appreciated would like to still hunt for gold or should I ditch one of these machines.. obviuosly it took me awhile to get that 3500 so I'll be hard pressed to get rid of it but I dont see alot of benifit in this area. thanks Grant

Sorry wrong pic the two bottom large stones are L4 CH meteorites found near dolan springs AZ. hers just a few little ones I picked out of an area called Gold basin in AZ. I have found several coins aslo in Nelson ,NV including a 1905 20$ liberty ( my pride an joy!) and around 30 silver dollars oldest 1882 I searched this area for gold and came upon coins!

I'm having a hard time with the photos..... can't get the coins to fit! Sorry

quite different from Gold Basin! I've hunted there myself a couple of times, and would rather go hunt some of the my favorite ghost owns in Utah, Nevada and down into Arizona and anywhere than I would dilly-dally around this metro area. However, I'm here (Oregon City) and not there (anyplace old, void of people, and full of 'history').

Yes, you can search around here with your GMT, and I'll provide the 5 gal. bucket to put all the nails, hair pins, washers, foil, bottle caps, pull-tabs, pencil eraser tops, and other really cool stuff in and you're welcome to it. :(

I am doing a seminar this weekend for a dealer and I can guarantee you that there will be at least one or two people who only have a "nugget shooter" but want to get out and have fun. You'll be best served if you shop for a good (new or used) coin shooter, to be sure.

If you're shopping for help, shoot me an E-mail to: MonteVB@comcast.net

You say you had an MXT so you ought to remember the strengths and weaknesses of that unit. I'll be tied up Saturday & Sunday with the seminar in Tigard, but E-mail and I'll gladly help you sort through some ideas on what to get.

Welcome back.to the area!

Monte
