Hi,I have the stock 9.5 and 4x6 coils. I am getting another coil and would like to know which coil is better for searching local soccer fields? Also which coil is heaver ?I am getting older the weight makes a differance.I want coverage more than depth. Thanks for the help.fritz

Hi, I don't have either of those coils. But if I were you, I would go with the Big Foot coil. I was using mine today on the soccer fields and you can cover a lot of area with the 18 X 4 coil. It's lighter than the stock coil and very well balanced. The pinpointing is fast and easy. If it's a surface coin, etc. I don't have to get down on the ground. Just pinpoint it, and use my poker to "pop" it out of the ground. EASY as can be. I don't know if they still sell the Big Foot, but it's one heck of a coil for soccer fields, baseball fields, playgrounds, etc. I've had mine for 6 years and the day I part with it is the day I get rid of my MXT----NOT!!!!! IMHO. HH to all, Nancy

If all you are going to do is work soccer fields then you should possibly consider the Bigfoot coil. I think Jimmy Sierra sells the Bigfoot or a coil that is very similar. However, if you start getting into some brushy areas and still want to cover ground I would go with the 6x10. I can't remember when I last detected with my MXT without the 6x10. It is a very versatile coil.

The 6x10. The 12 is useless in my opinion unless your in a large clean area and want to cover ground fast.
You will get more depth too. For some reason many people feel bigger is better. Whites finally gave them what they wanted.
Stay with the Standard coil, the 5.3, and the 6x10DD and you'll do just fine, in my opinion.

Robert,

I've done well with the 12", although I do agree with you about getting a smaller coil. The only one I'm looking at getting right now is the 6X10 DD. Nancy has great luck with the 5.3 and I plan on getting that one also. I think it all depends on if you don't mind on digging up everything under the sun to find the good things. One thing I can say about using the 12" coil, I've come to know my machine better. I know what sounds good and what just might be junk. Some of the things I dig are junk, but when someone comes up to me and asks me what I have found, it's nice to show them I'm not only looking for the "HOLY GRAIL", but I'm cleaning up the school or park of all the trash.

I have all the whites coil for my M6 (except thr 4x6 which I wasn't impressed with).. The best bet would be the 6x10 as it will cover more ground because its a DD coil and a detection feild that runs from front to back.. It isn't as deep as the stock and nowhere near the depth of the super 12, but you don't want to dig to China on a soccer feild.. I beleive the 6x10 would be your best choice of the two..
