New Member, Question on a Detector

Hello All.

I have been interested in the hobby for a few years now and am finally ready to dive in. I live on the coast of NH and would love to do some underwater detecting. I am thinking about the Garrett Seahunter II, but am concerned about its ability on land. I'd like an underwater detector that I can pull out and use in a park or anywhere away from the water and still get good results. Anyone have feedback on this? I really appreciate the help.

Regards,

Jay

Hi Jay,

I hunt mainly land and wet beach sand. Not sure of a good dual detector though I know they are out there. I live 35 minutes from Hampton. Are you in Exeter? Maybe I'll see you around.

I'm in Exeter. From the looks of it, there are a lot of users on this forum from the Seacoast area. I'm looking forward to getting out there!

Hi Grumpy Here... Are you going to scuba dive or just shallow water hunt? For shallow water, wet sand and some land use you would do well with a CZ20 or A minelab Excaliber. If you are useing scuba I would go with a CZ20.Or you may want to wait and see what fisher comes out with since they have discontinued the CZ line.I can't believe that they are going to give up there share of the water hunting market.I have used the Tesoro tiger shark and the the Detectorpro diver and while they are not bad detectors they don't(In my opinion)hold up as well as the CZ.Alot depends on where you are going to use it the most. Are you going to be in fresh or salt water?I own all of the above detectors and they each do well in different situations.I hope this helps. Doug Ps. There are many detectors out there and just as many opinions.Mine is just one of many.:twodetecting:

SPEND THE MOST ON THE DETECTOR YOU FEEL YOU'LL USE THE MOST.FOR THE WATER/BEACH I USE A BEACH HUNTER ID AND A SURFMASTER.THEY CAN BE GOTTEN FOR FAIR PRICES ON E-BAY ECT.THEN MAYBE GET A ACE 250 PACKAGE DEAL FOR LAND/DRY SAND.YOU COULD GET ALL OF THESE AND STILL HAVE CASH IN YOUR POCKET COMPARED TO THE PRICE OF THE EXCAL.I HUNT NH.+MA. BEACHES MAY SEE YA.

Keep us posted, I like to hit the beach quite a bit in the winter with my EXll. I'm going to try getting out there this Monday as I am off from work.
