Hi I'm 63 but a new comer to metal detecting.
My wife bought me a Garrett Ace 150 for my birthday this month(3/14).
I can use all the help you all have to give.
I enjoy the outdoors and i am looking forward to treasure hunting.

Welcome to the forum!

I am new here myself just joined around the first of the week and have only had my Ace 250 for about 3 days.

I don't know much besides practice and and listen to how your metal detector responds to certain kinds of metals a junk. the best I know right know is when you pinpoint an object or target and can't get a good fix on exactly where to dig step to 90 degrees of the target and pinpoint again. This trick has helped me to zero in on whatever it might be.

I play around with my detector inside some where that there are no nails or screws in the floor. I space out different coins and rigs and sweep the coil over them. It is good practice when the weather is bad outside. I listen to the different tones and hold down the pinpoint and go back over each one at different heights or distance between the coil and object. But I would use all metal out side for a while and try to dig up everything to learn the differences.

Good luck and this MDing is addictive!

Your life is about to change for the better.....better health, weight loss, great mood, More tax free loot, Gold finds. And you bought from a reputable company, which manufactures its metal detectors in USA....heck, it even says so on the box :). If you scan back a couple of days, you will find all sorts of information on the ACE series metal detectors. If you have any questions, just ask. There are lots of great helpers on this forum.

Welcome, will be nice to see your finds.

Cmdr Howard,

I too am new to MDing.

Just ordered a Garrett ACE 150 also. I am looking forward to getting out and using it here in Maryland. My primary use will be surveying my families original homestead. The property has not been in the ownership of the family for quit some time. It has recently been purchased by a developer the has started building on the property. The family cemetary has been fenced in (very nice black aluminum fencing) and that is where I want to start. Of course I will be practicing in my back yard for a while.

I have been spending a lot of time reading post to this forum today. I have to say that it is a very friendly group that post here. You can bet on seeing me posting here for help!

Cheers,

Chuck Solley
