Hi everyone, Im a new one here. I have a 1266x and been using it for about 15years now. What a great machine. I understand its language more then I understand my wifes. I'v been thinking about getting another fisher but I dont know if it would pay to do so, unless the newer ones are alot better,I just dont know. Is there anyone who had the 1266x and upgraded, if yes what are the results. 95% of the time i can tell whats in the ground by the sound. So im not crazy about the id ones. Which I guess most are. It is really worth the extra cost. Again I just dont no. Thanks

Welcome. The forums are a lot better when people take the time to comment.
I always wanted a Fisher and finally got a CZ 3D. It has been really good for me.
I also use a target ID machine and I really find myself wishing my CZ had a target
ID. Means I have to look at F70s and F75s I guess.
I had used the same machine for about 15 years before getting my new Fisher.
Keep browsing the forums and you should get all kinds of ideas about new detectors.

HH, Don

Hey Shup,

Welcome.

I had used the 1266 for a while and it was definitely a good unit. In my opinion, the newer units are more able to handle the different environments like city parks, lawn, soccer fields as well as old home site, relic and gold fields etc etc. The target ID helps one decide if it may be worth digging a hole in a beautiful lawn or perhaps digging under a large intruding root. That being said, IF you have a good feel for what the 1266 is telling you, there is no reason to change. The 1266 is known as one of the deepest detectors made.

Maybe someone in your area that has one of the new Fishers can meet up with ya one day and compare signals, that would have to be one of the best ways to go about making your decision.

Tony

.... I used one for some time back in the late 90's. I loved it and wished I had hung on to it.

When I added the CZ7a Pro I found a different world. There really is a difference, in my opinion. Not so much in depth, but in the way the detector is used afield. For quick zips through tot lots or woodchips, relic seeking in fields or woods, the 1266X is hard to beat.
If you find yourself in urban haunts and hunting athletic fields, parks, schools areans and other areas as tony mentions, the signal information from a newer TID type detector can be a boon.

I would keep the 1266-X until the handle fell off. But I would recommend you add one of the newer units to your battery and see how things stack up.
Im pretty keen to get ahold of an F70 to complement my 1236-X2.

I think if you know your machine and you are not getting skunked by other machines and are finding the masked targets that are being blocked by iron or trash...well why change the F75 is my best unit. It is so sweet for relic hunting because I can program it for different hunts. I had the cz3 but it can't keep up with my F75.

Thanks for all the replies! I guess you are right, I am seeking out treasures where the sites are so called hunted out. Just thought maybe there was another fisher that would perform better. But it would have to be alot better for me to change from the 1266x. I do know it like the back of my hand. And im still going deep even in trash areas. I also have a question. I used the 12in hot head coil for about 10 years now and wore it to the bone and had to throw it out recently. I cant find any anywhere. I guess they dont make them anymore. If anybody knows where I can get one please let me know, I loved that coil. Mike

Mike, post your coil wants on the classifieds forum. There just might be one out there not being used. Also, I did swing cz's from the 90's to recently when I bought a F 75. The F 75 is one great detector in trash and on those so called hunted out sites. It will go as deep as any and deeper then most and has terrific target separation. It has reopened a lot of "hunted out" sites for me. HH jim tn
