New MD site

I have got to keep it short. The in-laws will be here soon from Missouri. That will put a dent in my MDing. This is my finds today. They tore down an house built in 1939. Scraped clean and ready for me. The first 3 hits was wheat, then a no date Buffalo. It took me an hour to get my next wheat. Hard to pp with all the trash. Had to do the coil shake to pp. Clads are in the center and the other copper.Don't know what the tokens are. 25 on one side and F on top and M on bottom.

"Tokens" look like play money. I found a bunch of them once at an old house site, very similar. Nowadays they make the saem thing out of plastic - yeccch!

Thanks for the pic's John. Very interesting. I will try to do a little bit of research on that one. If I find out anything I will let you know. Maybe if you put a straight shaft detector in their golf bag it might get them started?

Do your coins come out of the ground fairly clean in Tx. When I was in WVa. the soil ate the coins up. Here in Fl. the black sand will eat up the coins up. In the sugar sand they come out pretty clean.

Most are not clean. Silver's are clean and most as are older pennies. There is most every type of soil you can imagine here. Sandy, loose and gravel type conditons thay come out pretty good as well as black clay. The newer clads and zinc's deteriate VERY quickly. HH

...I wouldn't imagaine anything as lurid as all that. The Freemasons are pretty clandestine, and while they do have their exonumia and other esoterica, they are not known for such trinkets as that.
Besides, outside their own circles, they rarely refer to themselves as such! Unless of course , we're talking about the drunk masons, those blokes in the red fezes on the little motorbikes, the Jamil Temple bunch.

I'd think it is something a bit more mundane, like a gaming token or the aforementioned play money. But, anything is possible.

Hi John, could the F M on the token stand for Farmers Market? I'm not sure if that would be correct but I do know that some farmers markets used tokens. Just a guess. Happy Hunting!

...although they are not often seen made out of aluminum.
