New M6 Prepped & Ready For Hunt To Tomorrow

I Just received my new Whites M6 in yesterday. I always prep and air test new units before using them. I also picked up the SEF 8x6 butterfly DD coil and a Whites 4x6 DD shooter coil to go along with the stock concentric. 950 coil. I love the way the 8x6 SEF coil performed on my Whites MXT so it should do just fine on the M6.

I take the time to wrap the coil wire with protection loom material. Cover the rods and control box with a layer of industrial grade black tape to protect finish. I also wrapped the grip with bicycle cork tape to protect, pad and thicken the grip a little. Some will think and even chime in and say it's a detector just use it or that's being way to picky and that's ok. I have done this to every detector I have owned and if and when I sell or trade the detector I just remove the protection materials and the detector looks almost brand new. This does increase the value and maintains the looks of the detector in the long run. I also store my detectors in padded storage bags after taking the time to blow them of with air and wipe them down with a lightly dampened soft cloth.

Now it's time to take the M6 out and get a little dirt on it and see what she can find....

Good luck Bill and congrats on the new machine. Keep us posted on your outing and HH, Nancy

Awesome looking machine. That trigger is just waiting to be pulled to pinpoint. I love this hobby. I am a happy MD hobbyist since 1999...

work just the same as your MXT with the Threshold tuner adjusted just a touch below and audible Threshold level. Your 6X8 DD and 4X6 Shooter DD coils will work the same as well, but some folks don't mind being a bit handicapped with the limits a DD has compared with a good Concentric, but that's fine with me.

Honestly, just :poke: having a little late night fun. I've owned and used them, but they aren't for me and my sites. Like you, I try to keep my detectors pampered and cleaned up after use, but I will admit I don't make a fashion statement out of them, I just pamper them as I go. The best protection I see is wrapping the coil cable to help protect it from any puncture in thorny, brushy environments. My White's coils are a bit thicker and more durable, and I note the better protection of the SEF coil, too. Some of the detector makers out there sure have some thinly wrapped, flimsy feeling thin coil cables that seem to fail more easily.

Anyway, you're set up now with one of the better detector models White's offers, and has offered for some time. To me, a good MXT, M6, MXT Pro/MXT All-Pro and MX5 are some of the best detectors out there today. Best of success to you!

Not making a fashion statement out of the detector Monte. I only explained the reason the detector looked the way it did it the pic's and my reasoning for installing the extra protection items on the detector. I have debated DD coils with you before but the fact is Monte in my area with our ground conditions DD coils normally perform a little better than concentric coils. Every time someone talks good about a DD coil you post on how you don't like them and you have stated many times your reasoning for that. I on the other hand prefer and like the DD coils a little better in general.

Hey Bill, looks good to me buddy.

Good Luck to tomorrow...and have a pack of spare batteries with ya.

Happy Hunting

I was just funnin' with you. Yes, I do use and prefer Concentric coils most of the time, just like you generally prefer the 6X8 SEF or other Double-D types. Like I said, we all like different coils and use what we prefer, and that's fine with me. I have owned and/or used most of the popular DD coils that have been out for the MXT series since it was first released, and I hunt a lot of trashy sites, and most of the time I'm in very more higher mineralized ground, too.

As long as we're using a quality built detector and a coil that is also durable and satisfies us at the sites we choose, then it's just up to us to use the best settings and recover the good targets.

Best of success with your M6 and SEF & Shooter coils,

Monte
