Good evening to you all, I have not been able to log in at the Infinium Users Network Forum......account got honked-up so here we are.....got some observations to share about my initial shake-out of the Infinium I picked up.....perhaps these comments will aid those of you considering this machine for purchase........got some questions for the veteran operators.....
AT THE BEACH-
The Infinium will detect targets nearly as deep as my GP 3000 when using coils of equal size.....
The Infinium is an easy machine to ground balance
The Infinium is more stable in the wet sand when compared to the GP 3000 (both are gold machines, ground balance type PI's)
The infinium is more stable when operated near electrical sources, as compared to the GP 3000
What the goal is....is to see if the Infinium can serve as a front line dry sand and water detector, as well as be a backup nugget shooter behind the GP 3000.....I spent last summer in the dry sand of Southern California beaches with the 3000......did fine for it being my first experience, but need the option of going in the wet zone, where most of the good stuff is.....
WHAT I NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING-
When I was adjusting the frequency to find a quiet setting, the audio for many of the frequencies were to faint to hear accurately, making a decision on which frequency to choose difficult...I am using the stock land phones....would a higher quality headphone enable me to hear better?......the frequency adjustment, I feel, is the key to this machine......
I did not experience any ghost signals on the far sides of the coil swing, but did, from time to time, notice some false signals (non-repeatable)....I have gotten false signals with a quiet threshold....is this a quirk of the machine?
This detector has potential......as said by some before, it is very quirky, not for the newcomer or turn-on-and-go type...thanks for any comments that may get me over the hump, Jerry
