Don't know about the Automax as I use a Sun Ray inline probe. And yes the 250 is as good as is stated.I discovered that when I field tested it for Garrett long ago.

Dunno about the V4, but I have the V2 and it's
been fine so far. Yep, the 250 lives up to the hype.
Can't beat it for the money. Get the extra coils
and it's even better.
