New Here 6" 3khz Digger help

Just wanted to say Hello. I am new here at the recommendation of Old Longhair.I found a couple new spots this week and am going to try and get out before we refreeze. I have been using my stock 7.5 khz coil with success. I picked up a 3khz 6" digger coil but can only seem to dig coins at 3-4 inches deep. Man is that thing hot. I dug a 1916 wheat today that hit at 44. It has been raining and melting snow for days so we are very wet. I think that contributed to the high TID. Any advice on the digger will be appreciated. Anyhow hello and Merry Christmas!

Yesterday's ice storm knocked out my ISP, so I only have my phone to respond with.

First suggestion I have is SLOW DOWN. It's too easy to go too fast with this little coil. As you said, it's hot, so it needs time to see and accurately I'D targets.
Where your SENS is set could also be a factor. Being as hot as it is, you could be running it too high. An analogy to think about is driving in fog with your highbeams on. Make sure that it's running stabily without chatter.

I hope this helps. I hate trying to type lengthy replies on my phone.

I've been using one for several months and love it. you have to go slow and overlap with it ... I run my Sens. as high as I can. I adjust it after doing ground balance, tracking GB and auto noise then crank the sens up till it's chatty and back it down to where it's just stable ... a lot of times I can run it anywhere from 25-28

I am sure the speed is not an issue with me. I actually dug a deeper silver merc. the other day, 6" or so. I had the sens way down on this site. There is an electric fence that requires the sens be lower ie 16-19. The signal was there just not what I was expecting. I need to revisit some "squeaker signals" and dig them. Thanks for the advice.

You might want to play around with the Tracking Offset feature too.
Read up on it in Randy's book and give it a whirl.....it might surprise you.

My advice for using the digger coil is "run and gun" as I call it. Crank up your sensitivity as high is it will let you, turn on ground balance trackng and go. Yeah, these guys will tell you not to run full sensitivity at 30 and in some rare cases I agree but for the most part turn on your detector and go.

Talking your time is key and also dig anything that is remotely close to a coin number and that sounds like the size of a coin. I hardly ever take the digger coil off of my detector. Coins aren't going to jump out of the ground for you when using that coil but if they are there, the chances are good that you're gonna hear them.

We are soon to have the 4th digger coil in the family and a friend with one. Come on Coiltek, PM me so I can give you the address to send us some Coiltek shirts. We are your best spokespeople!!!
