New Headphone adaptor information!!!

Last week I called Garrett re: headphone adaptor. I was told to call "Texas Metal Detector" 903-734-7773( She gave me the number), they make an adaptor. The owner was not in until this morning. I called and spoke with him today. He said he has been making the adaptor for quite some time for the Infinium, same as for the AT and some for the AT until he ran out of connectors. He was sent a letter about 3 month ago from the Garrett VP saying they would no longer sell him the waterproof connector as Garret wanted the business. I called Garrett a few minutes ago and was told that yes they are making the adaptor as we speak and no, we dont know when they will be out. One person says call TMD another says we are making them. From my conversation with the owner of TMD I am sure Garret is the only maker of the adaptor as they are the only one with the connector. I put my name on the list for one when they come out.

I have searched everywhere for that connector. I wish I could buy a few hundred wholesale. Someone makes them - but who?

you'd have to bribe their buyer (s ) to find out where, in china, they are made.

The waterproof connector is a special connector designed by Garrett. It did not have to be designed this way. There are other connectors out there that could have done the same job. But if Garrett had used one of these more readily available connectors, they would not sell as many headphones in the beginning and adapters later down the road. Garrett may be a good company that makes good products, but making money is the primary goal of any company. Does it have to charge $35-$40 for the $5 adapter? Probably not. But it does provide some incentive for someone to market a competing connector at a lower retail price.

The way I look at it, these adapters will be the free gift they willgive you when you send it in for repairs, hint hint Garrett
