Hello everyone...I am a transplant from the DFX forum. Looks loke an interesting forum here too! I have just purchased a Nikon Coolscan 4000 and am highly impressed with the results so far. Anyone else here using one? I could sure use any tips!

I will give it a shot! The following shot of my son was scanned from a Fujichrome Provia 100 slide. Shot with Leica M6, 35 f2 Summicron lens, 1/60 sec. @ f8. Scanned with Nikon Coolscan 4000. Unsharp mask applied in photoshop. It was virtually impossible to get a good scan from this slide using my old Minolta quick scan 35. The 4000 was easy. An 11 x 14 print of this at 400 dpi on an Epson 1270 (Tetenal Spectra Jet High Gloss) looks as good as an Ilfochrome I spent a hundred bucks on. Keep in mind that the file you are viewing is a compressed 72dpi jpeg, and loses a little in the translation!

I guess a person is born with an eye or he isn't. Ijust shoot pictures and one comes out on occasion.
Thanks for sharing :0)
