New guy here. Tejon is my first machine. My coin record is 327 in one day, all from one schoolground. dime count was 117. Tejons tough to master but worth the effort.

Thanks for the welcome. yes my hands were sore from all the digging. Most came from crawling under a large set of bleacher seats. Any advice for gold? For silver I just found that if I run both disc. at far right and my sensitivity maxed in the orange that I get very little trash and go very deep on copper/silver. This keeps out all small trash and zinc pennies but you miss all the gold. This setting was good to cherry-pick the clad and silver. This is my first detector so I learn more each time out. Any advice on the tejon will be appreciated. Thanks again, Beale, for being the first to welcome me.

Welcome aboard.

That is a very good coin count.

With 1/3 of them dimes, it sounds like you are doing well with the Tejon. I've found it to be not the strong dime hitter, more a very strong nickle hitter.

Pulls it's share of gold (and them some) but a lot of foil gets dug too. I normally run first discriminator at the low side of foil and the second between nickle and tab ... just to where the modern round tabs click. That tells me if I'm in the primary gold range or above it in the penny / dime / quarter or above range.

That 5.75 coil is a good one.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes the Tejon can find the nickels, huge hit when close to the surface, and loud too. When I focus on the copper/silver and skip the nickels for the sake of time then I do well on dimes. Thanks for the tip on your disc. settings. Going to have to dig more trash and get some of that gold. I only have one gold ring so far. Got some nice silver booty though.

Congrats on the Tejon. You have chosen wisely! Enjoy your time with it and the gold will come when not expecting it:detecting:

Craig, Thanks for the encouraging words. It is pleasing to hear from an experienced individual that my research paid off. I don't think I would be so happy though without the 5.75 widescan coil. For the trash it is super. Tell me, if you would, how the Tejon compares to your other machines? I am thinking about a detector for beaches and highly mineralized soil. I have also read conflicting reports on the Tejons ability to handle highly mineralized ground. Some say it's all in the ground balancing, others says it has a great loss of depth. Any thoughts?
