New guy with SE

Hi all , just recently purchased a SE package from Sunray. Included was the SE detector, sunray 5inch coil, sunray 8inch coil, X1 target probe, gold headphones and probably the best customer service i have ever received. Anyway after putting the unit together I went to a local hunted out park with lots of iron. Started off with the stock coil and a coin pattern I used with my old xs. This coil seems to make alot of noise. The cross would lock after passing over a target and it would take several passes over other targets to get it moving again. So I went back to the car and put the sun ray 8 inch on and kept all settings the same. What an amazing difference the 8in. made. No excessive noise and separation was great. I found my first barber dime at 9 inches (hole depth was from the tip of the probe to the end cap). Are the stock coils bad on this thing? Should I try a different coil like a platypus? My old xs never did this with the stock coil. Did I make a mistake buying the SE ? Mike

Mike,

Keep using the X-8 for about 40hrs before you pass judgement. Once you start getting comfortable with the way the SE processes information, you will feel better about using the stock and X-5 coil.
