New guy question??

I purchased a MXT a few months ago and have been learning to use it. I have gotten lots of good tips and advise from this forum. My question is this I performed a small test to check the recover speed of the MXT I placed a penny, nickle and quarter in that order about an inch apart, using a small 4x6DD coil I ran the coil over the targets, now in coin and jewelry mode the unit only produced one beep with a slow or fast sweep speed, now in relic mode with a slow sweep speed I got 3 separate beeps so the question is whats the difference between the two modes besides the number of tones. The answer is probably real simple just not seeing it. Thanks Derek

You would want to lock your tracking in doing any test. This way nothing changes. Putting those coins 1 inch apart is pretty close. Did you have the coil the same height on your sweeps?

Tried to keep everything the same, coins in same spot did not move them between modes, height and sweep speeds as close as possible for both modes. Can the ground change like that, I mean the same spot of ground within minutes. Thanks Derek

I don't know why you got 3 separate beeps on targets 1 inch apart? That's pretty darn close. But it sounds like it's working good for you nonetheless.

In relic mode your only looking for a ferrous or non- ferrous signal. Passing targets that close you would hear the change on multiple targets in relic mode

In coin mode the change will be harder to notice that's why I hunt in relic mode mostly. Dan
