New Guy, Discovery 3300 on the way

Hello folks. I'm new to metal detecting and new here as well. I ordered a BH Discovery 3300 and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I also bought a Garrett Propointer and a headset. I ordered this particular detector because it seemed to be the best value for the money. I'm on a budget, so it made sense to me.

I live in the Mother Lode in the Sierra Nevada foothills in an old Goldrush town. For starters, I plan on detecting our yard as well as the basement. I also plan on using the unit when I'm out and about the area.

I couldn't find much actual feedback on this detector except what was posted on the website where I bought it. (Amazon) I realize this is an inexpensive detector, but it's what I can afford at this point in time. I'd appreciate any feedback, pointers or pitfalls that you experienced folks could give me.

BYW, I found three detector forums and this was the only one of the three that had a BH forum.

I think you made a good choice-I'm jealous of your location also...

Main problem I had with it was trying to run too hot a power setting. I use minimum power & spot on ground balance for coin hunting for example-rarely do I use more than the 2nd power setting.

From all the reviews I have seen at least 99 percent give it a 5 :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I think it's another sleeper like the :teknetics:Gamma 6000, this one here though :bounty:is the " Biggest Bang For Your Buck" - which to me = WINNER :super:

It arrived today. I'll pick up some batteries and assemble it tomorrow. I've read the manual and I'm a bit confused. I'm hoping that it will make more sense after it's up and running and I can see the stuff that's described.
