i just received my new gt, it was very simple to set it up, i will be out first thing in the morning to the beach wet sand area. but please need help with first settings for an amateur. thank you all.

Now that you have it together and ready to go this is what i would recommend to begin with. The volume will be set at max and adjust your headphones to your comfort. Sensitivity to help learn it run in auto which is all the way counter clockwise until it click like it shut off. Disc and notch also all the way counter clockwise as this will reject most iron and some will come though too, but it may be broken up or seems to move when you go over it. Set the one toggle to threshold so you can hear a threshold when coil is in the air away from any metal or ground. set the all metal/ iron mask on/iron mask off to iron mask on and the other toggle switch for track, lock and pinpoint to pinpoint as this switch is only active when you are in all metal so when you do go to all metal you will be in the pinpoint mode to pinpoint the target. Now set the threshold to a slight hum and you will be ready to go. Now for beach hunting looking for the gold rings you will want to dig all signal that give a repeatable signal which is a signal that is in the same spot when you go over it with the coil, if it moves it possibly iron. If the signal is real loud or big sounding try lifting the coil up a bit and if you raise it 7 or 8 inches and sounds the same it is a bigger target like a alum can, it it sounds a lot weaker it is one you will want to check out.

Good luck and let us know how you do, I am sure you will dig a lot of trash too as this is normal for beach hunting and looking for gold, coins other than a nickle will have a higher tone and once you have heard it a bit you will know when the coil goes over a coin.
