Has anyone seen or used then new Gold Bug looks really good for a mid price gold detector? Coming out in mid Nov they say.

I heard it is based on the f75 and uses its housing.

The control box is the same as the Omega with a different faceplate, and mounted on a Delta rod. I suspect it's a modified Omega with upgraded software and higher frequency for more sensitivity to gold.

Should be interesting to see how it performs, it may actually be killer for turf jewelery hunting

At last weekend's GPAA show in Cabarrus County, NC, I asked a Fisher Rep to explain the price difference between the GB2 and the new Gold Bug. He told me the price dropped because the new GB is digital technology and the GB2 was analog. He said the beepers would be happy with the new product. I remain skeptical.

Hi Sam,

The Gold Bug is not intended to outperform or replace the Gold Bug 2. It is an entry level unit, and so has the lower price. I have a Gold Bug 2 and I can assure you I'll not be trading it for a Gold Bug. But I may end up with both.

The one the the Gold Bug MAY do is get better depth on large nuggets in mineralized ground than the Gold Bug 2 as the extreme high frequency of the Gold Bug 2 does not penetrate well to depth. But we won't know until we get to test them.
